Mechanical/Electrical Engineering for Medical Facilities
Your Hospital Shouldn’t Have to Operate in Critical Condition–But You Need to Know it CAN
Get Peace of Mind with Secure, Reliable Mission Critical Infrastructure
If you’re a hospital administrator, your patients expect the most advanced treatments. Your medical staff looks to you for the most advanced technology and equipment to deliver comfort and care to those patients. You do everything you can to meet these needs, but are your electrical and mechanical systems at risk of letting you down in emergencies?
Your facility’s critical infrastructure could be well coordinated, with a Building Information Model (BIM) that integrates your electrical and mechanical systems into a single, cohesive 3-D virtual model. In fact, implementing such a model during the design phase of your next major improvement can improve bid and construction quality, streamline construction, ease future maintenance and improve both the performance and lifespan of the facility’s critical systems.
Brown Engineers is dedicated to helping hospitals safeguard and improve their mission critical systems. We understand that you must maintain operability of your facilities during construction, and we know how to do that.
Senior project manager Rick Geraci, an electrical engineer with over 30 years’ experience solving electrical engineering problems for medical facilities, counts as one of his proudest career achievements the emergency changeout of the main power core at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
This required immediate, decisive action while minimizing downtime. Construction, accomplished over two 56-hour weekend shutdowns with over 100 workmen each weekend, was safely completed on time and under budget, averting catastrophic failure of the hospital’s power system and earning Rick a commendation from UAMS.
Rick is joined by senior project manager Mark Eakin, our mechanical engineering manager who also has over 30 years’ experience serving hospitals, medical universities, and research facilities. They’re supported by a team that includes a LEED AP mechanical engineer and 3-D BIM specialist.
