Hot Springs Generator Monitoring System Wins 2015 Engineering Excellence Award

On March 12, the Arkansas Chapter of ACEC* presented the City of Hot Springs with an Engineering Excellence Award for the city utility’s Generator Monitoring System, programmed and integrated by Brown Engineers, LLC.

The annual competition—the “Academy Awards” for engineering in the state—showcases projects that demonstrate a high level of achievement, value, and creative expertise.

The Hot Springs Generator Monitoring System helps ensure that backup generators at treatment plants and pump stations will perform as needed, when needed.

On 9-1-09, Dee Brown sent his team to the Ouachita Plant to adjust the filter flow modulation in relation to the influent set point level. They have shown dedication to making this right, and now have all nine filters modulating smoother than I’ve ever seen them. These improvements should save us a lot on the actuator motor and contactor replacement, and may improve overall water quality with less turbulence through the filters. Please extend my thanks to them.
